TO MY 2019 GELA STUDENTS: You are not in the right place! Get the files from the 2019 page.
Everybody needs to know Excel, even lawyers. In this class, students in the Tech Lawyer Accelerator (TLA) at CU Law learn the most important Excel skills for working with data sets. Taught by Laura Kornish.
As part of the TLA, you will have four two-hour sessions on Data Analysis with Excel. The focus in these sessions is on specific data-handling and modeling skills using Microsoft Excel, the most commonly used spreadsheet program.
Before the first class, you filled out a five-question survey about your experience with Excel.
I have been teaching business students about data analysis for 19 years. I look forward to this opportunity to teach future lawyers (in TLA) and current government employees (in GELA). Data-handling skills are now important in every sector of our society and economy.

I often get requests for recommendations for Excel learning materials. I like this Udemy course. It's not free, but it is often on sale for $10.
In this module, we will build on the budgeting exercise that you will work on with Dan Coll May 25-26.
Here is the exercise for class. The the exercise instructions, the data set, and some hints on how to get started are all in the file.
